We design objects that rethink what a candle can be.

Mulier Studio is a creative project founded by Silvia Durán. It was born during the pandemic out of a personal exploration of wax as a material and a shift towards a more hands-on, physical practice tied to the object.

Each piece is conceived as a volume that inhabits the space. Form, color and, where there is one, scent are developed as parts of a single composition. Combustion is not the starting point: the presence of the object is.

Fire introduces a second possibility. When lit, the wax shifts, the silhouette changes and the piece begins to transform. That behavior is part of the design. Each candle can remain intact or be transformed by fire; both ways of existing are equally valid.

We work mainly with vegetable soy wax. Each model starts from an original piece developed by hand and then reproduced using molds, with manual work kept throughout the process. Because of the nature of the material and of the making, each piece shows small variations in surface, color and finish.

We are not trying to erase those differences. They are part of how each piece is made.
